On Friday morning, Kerala police took significant action by arresting Aju Alex, the creator behind the 'Chekuthan' YouTube channel, following allegations of derogatory remarks aimed at renowned actor Mohanlal. The arrest was triggered by a formal complaint lodged by Siddique, the General Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) and a prominent actor in his own right.
The crux of the complaint centers on accusations that Alex had made offensive and disparaging comments about Mohanlal, who had recently visited the disaster-stricken regions of Wayanad. During this visit, Mohanlal was dressed in army fatigues, fulfilling his role as an honorary lieutenant colonel of the Territorial Army. The decision to don the military attire was seen as a gesture of solidarity and support for the affected communities.

According to Siddique, this is not an isolated incident; Alex has a troubling history of using abusive language against various actors within the Malayalam film industry. Siddique, expressing concern over the growing trend of such derogatory behavior, emphasized that there are laws in place to address these issues and that the industry cannot remain passive in the face of regular abuse directed at its members. He stressed the importance of upholding respect and dignity within the industry and taking firm action against those who violate these standards.
